The Mission of Fourth Street Friendship Church is taken directly from Matthew 28:19-20:

“…go and make disciples of all nations,baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you….”

It’s pretty simple, and we are committed to that mission. The way we’re going about this mission is by focusing on three key goals that we believe will help us with that mission. We’re focused on:

Encountering Christ
Embracing One Another
Engaging the Community

Prayerfully leading, coaching and guiding our church along this path is our Pastor, Kelan Fielder. Pastor Fielder, along with a committed team of elders and other ministry leaders is here to help you grow in discipleship and obedience.

A key aspect of fulfilling the mission of Fourth Street Friendship Church is our intentional focus on encountering Christ. When you come in contact with any of the ministries and activities or members of the Fourth Street Friendship church, you can expect to experience the love and grace of Christ.
While every ministry of this church is committed to drawing people into a deeper encounter with Christ, there are a few things about us that are primarily focused on this.

• Saturday morning services –
o Each Saturday of the year at 9:30am you will find believers and some that are still making up their mind about Christ in their lives discovering more about Christ through a Bible-study time called Sabbath School. Whether you are young or old, a mature and committed Christian or just curious there is a group here that is designed to meet your needs. Bring the family for breakfast snacks and enjoy learning what Christ has waiting for you in His word!
o The 11:00 worship service is a dynamic time of worship, music and fellowship designed to encourage you in your desire to know and live for Christ. During this time we pray together, sing together and learn together as the pastor shares a message from the Bible. Don’t worry, no one will hand you a microphone or make you speak in public, but you may just make some new friends to help you live out your faith a little more joyfully in the week to come!
• Tuesday Evening Bible Study – Come join our pastor and others as we look into the truths in God’s word. Join in at 7:00pm and learn how to read and understand the Bible for yourself and find strength for the Christian life.
• Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting – Each Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30, the church offers an opportunity to come together to pray. This meeting is almost completely dedicated to actually praying to God as opposed to spending time in reading or talking, so you’re welcome to bring your most important requests and praises to God as we approach the throne together.

When you come in contact with any of the ministries and activities or members of the Fourth Street Friendship church, you can expect to find people loving each other, forgiving each other and looking for ways to support each other through the challenges of this life.
While Fellowship is important in every ministry of the church, there are a few things about us that are primarily focused on this.

• Greeters and Ushers – When you walk through the door to Fourth Street Friendship church, there’s a team of people who are experts at helping people feel right at home. Not only will you get a warm welcome and a smile, whether you’re a member of the church or a guest, this team will help you fit right in with whatever is happening at the church. Have a need? Check with this team. You’ll be glad you did!
• Family Life Ministries – This ministry is dedicated to offering social activities and other experiences designed to strengthen the families in our church. Don’t worry, if you’re single, we’ve got you covered! If you just want to have fun and enjoy the company of people who love Jesus, then this ministry’s efforts are just for you!
A key aspect of fulfilling the mission of Fourth Street Friendship Church is our intentional focus on Engaging the Community. Our mission at Fourth Street Friendship is to make disciple for Christ, and we believe that this is still done the same way that Jesus did. He healed people. He helped them. He laughed and played with the children. He fed them.
Some of the ways that we are intentionally focused on this at Fourth Street Friendship church are through

• Inner City Ministries – Every Sunday morning at 9:00 for the past 40 or so years, we’ve been committed to serving a free breakfast to those that are hungry. Guests will find a hot meal and warm smiles included with a brief worship service designed to feed the soul as well. An addiction recovery program is also offered each Sunday afternoon as well as free computer training classes.
• Community Workshops – At Fourth Street Friendship, we know that there are other things on people’s minds besides praying and singing hymns. Real life in Washington, DC often means being able to benefit from wisdom when it comes to your health, your marriage or family, your finances or other things. Our series of workshops and events for the community are designed to help make a difference in your life no matter who you are.
