About the Show

Aren’t you tired of politically correct talk? Isn’t it refreshing to hear raw, honest feelings and thoughts?

If you have been looking, your search is over. The Nami Does Not Care Show offers you a chance to hear unbridled viewpoints from an outspoken, frank and funny Japanese girl and some slightly uptight, white American guy.

Get a new perspective on life in the land of the rising sun, Japan, and what one little Japanese woman thinks of the world, of you, and of her own culture.

There are both video and audio podcast versions of the show.
If you are a lover (or a hater) of Japan, Japanese life, Japanese pop culture, or if you are just a sucker for the absurd and profane, sit back and prepare yourself for what Nami really thinks, because Nami just does not care.

About Nami
for PARROTS LIVING IN JAPAN - CLOTHES & ACCESSORIES DESIGNER

Hi. I’m Nami and I am Japanese. I just came back to my home country a few months ago after living in America for 7 years.

What I am here for is to share with you my experiences living and traveling around the world, but mostly to talk about my own clashes with Japanese culture.

Japanese people are one of the most group-oriented in the world. That really gave me a hard time when I was young. They do not respect any individuality.

It was so difficult growing up in this culture. I wanted to express my feelings and thoughts, but I was not allowed to do so. We are all expected to be the same in order to have a nice, peaceful society. I was such an unhappy child.

But, I have learned so many things through the years about how I really can be who I am and to deal with my problem of not wanting anyone to control me.

It is just like an old friend would tell me, “You look like a nice, beautiful Japanese girl, but once you open your mouth, you are a monster.”

This is who I am.
