Paula Schirman is a graduate of Tarleton State University with a Masters degree Guidance and Counseling. Her education and credentials include Licensed Professional Counselor and LPC Supervisor. She is a member of the Texas Counseling Association and a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy. She is board certified as a Relationship Specialist and as a Forensic Consultant.

Paula has operated her own private practice under the name Serenity Place Counseling since 1998, where she does individual, family and group counseling.

Paula uses a system's approach which emphasizes that each family member is a part of a larger unit and changing a piece of the unit will change the unit herself.
