“Avoid at all costs!! Unless you want to owe ...”
Avoid at all costs!! Unless you want to owe the IRS $1,800 two years later. Tony's attention to detail is severely lacking and he does not stand by his work AT ALL. I used Tony's Tax Preparation for a couple years and the returns appeared to go through as planned. I didn't think twice when he asked me to sign some liability waiver- I trusted him. I last used him for my 2018 tax return. I mistakenly handed over a two year old W-2 during the time we met and he did not notice the big, bold year at the top while he mindlessly entered the information on the W-2 into the return. Fast forward to 2021, I get a notice from the IRS stating that I now owe $1,800 due to under reporting my earnings. For two weeks, through unanswered phone calls and emails, I finally got a response after posting a two star review on Google. His response was petty and he refused to reply to my question of how we wanted to handle this so we can solve the issue amicably. No response for a week and a half. I then email him again relaying my discussion of the matter with my attorney. He immediately calls me saying he couldn't believe I was pressing charges (which I never said) and that before he saw the email, he was going to tell me that he was going to tell me that he'd pay for half the fine (convenient timing, easy to say and not do anything). He then proceeded to play the victim in all this. "Oh I don't have anyone helping me, I get 75 emails a day, I'm overwhelmed, I was nice to you, I know your brother, woe is me.." Cool. Why should that matter to me? You're the "professional" who shouldn't burden your consumer base with ridiculous excuses to justify inaction or mistakes. I hired and paid you to do a job and you failed, end of discussion. Not only that, you refused to stand by your work to encourage any repeat business! I won't even expand upon Tony's character with his attempt to get my then-wife to be in a secret relationship if she signed a non-disclosure agreement so his wife wouldn't find out. I was shocked when that happened. TTP should not be allowed to touch anyone's finances. You're better off using the free Turbo Tax program with the amount of effort he puts into verifying his work. The fact that I paid him for this all to happen is unbelievable.
