Coulterville formerly Maxwell's Creek is a census-designated place in Mariposa County, California, United States. It is located on Maxwell Creek 20 miles 32 km northwest of Mariposa, at an elevation of 1,699 feet 518 m. Coulterville had a population of 115 at the 2020 census, down from 201 at the 2010 census, when the CDP covered a much greater area. It is a mining town located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
